Substrate preparation
Masonry substrates:
The substrates must be carefully prepared by manual

depending on the nature and extent of the dirt on the
surface to be treated. Poorly adhering coats of old
paint should be removed. Make sure that fresh plaster
has set before applying. Apply one coat of Metro Fix
followed by one coat of Metro Cover to provide a
smooth background, then apply the Urban Effect
required.
Plasterboard substrates:
The substrates should be thoroughly prepared by
brushing or cleaning, making sure that there are no
loose areas.
Apply one coat of Metro Fix followed by one coat of
Metro Cover to provide a smooth background, then
apply the Urban Effect required.
Pre-painted or varnished timber substrates:
Partially or entirely scrape to remove any loose paint
or varnish remaining or remove the paint entirely using
chemical or solvent paint stripper, then apply the
Urban Effect required.
New or old timber substrates already treated as above:
Spot grout to fill any gaps and micro-cracks using
Metro Stuc.
Lightly sand to make the surface to be treated smooth
and even.
Apply one coat of Metro Fix and sand lightly. Next,
check the soundness of the substrate: if there is any
dusting or if there are loose areas, another coat of
Metro Fix should be applied. Apply one coat of Metro
Cover to provide a smooth background, then apply the
Urban Effect required.
