Preparation of the substrate
Walls:
the substrates must be carefully prepared by manual
brushing and/or by washing, depending on how dirty is
the surface to treat. Old paints must be removed.
Before applying on wet plaster make sure that it is set.
Apply a coat of Metro Fix and subsequently a coat of
Metro Cover in order to level the substrate.
Plasterboard:
the substrates must be carefully prepared by manual
brushing and/or by washing, making sure that they are
free of loose bits. Apply a coat of Metro Fix and
subsequently a coat of Metro Cover in order to level
the substrate.
Already painted or varnished wooden substrates:
scrape partially or generally to eliminate residues of
existing paint or varnish that is not firmly adherent or
completely remove the existing paint by washing with
a stripping solvent-based product.
New wooden substrates or old substrates already
treated as above:
grout here and there to fill in any gaps and
microcrazing with Metro Stuc. Sand lightly to make the
surface to be treated level and even. Apply a coat of
Metro Fix and sand slightly. Then verify the consistency
of the substrate: if there are dust and/or loose bits it is
necessary to apply again Metro Fix. Apply a coat of
Metro Cover in order to level the substrate.
Equipment
brush (Klimt Brush), short wool roller (Magritte Roller),
marine sponge (Dalì Sponge)
Dilution
From 20% to 60% with water according to the ambient
conditions and desired effect
Application procedure
To obtain an homogeneous effect, use a brush or
roller to evenly apply tow coats of HOT METAL. To
obtain a veiled effect, apply a coat of washable Metro
Wash beforehand to cover the surface and then use a
brush or a roller to apply a coat of HOT METAL. Finally
glaze with a sponge. The product has an intrinsic
abrasive effect, therefore if scratched, it could produce
unsightly powder of material on the surface. To
minimize or avoid this effect it is necessary to protect
the surface applying a coat of Moon, Metroresin Gloss
or Metroresin Matt (Metropolis).
Drying or setting at ≈ 23°C
Surface: 4 h
Coverage
8-10 m2/l (one coat); 4-5 m2/l (two coats)
Coverage per pack (5 litres): 40 -50 m2 approx. (one
coat)
The coverage varies according to the absorption of the
substrate and, above all, to the desired effect
Coating with paint
Compatibility with other products: with all solvent-free
products
Note:
We recommend using the same lot of product on a
continuous surface, otherwise slight shade differences
cannot be excluded.
